Core Early Childhood Curriculum Components

A good example is the designation of Fun Time as a demonstration site for the “Early Literacy and Learning Model” (ELLM), a collaboration co-anchored with Florida Gulf Coast University and the Florida Institute of Education. The program focuses on increasing instruction in reading by one extra hour per day for at-risk children. It is administered in 49 Head Start programs in Collier County benefiting approximately 800 children.

Healthy Meals Provided by School

Our children are served a nutritious family-style breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack daily. The menus are designed by the school’s cook and approved by the USDA Food Program.

All Fun Time menus exceed the daily nutritional requirements of the food program. The food is stored and prepared in our commercial state-of-the-art kitchen.

Books for Collier Kids

To ensure that all Fun Time children have books in their homes, First Book-Collier County (now Books for Collier Kids) was formed. Through their incredible purchasing power, they select age-appropriate brand-new books at low cost, donating them to our four-year-olds on a monthly basis. These books are part of classroom lessons and are then taken home to be shared with the families.

Welcome to Fun Time!

From learning their ABCs and 1, 2, 3s to enjoying playtime and shared meals with their teachers, the students at Fun Time Early Childhood Academy are preparing not only for school but also for life! Our creative, research-based curriculum–guided by Head Start and Florida School Readiness Performance Standards–helps our students from low-income working families enter kindergarten ready to read and ready to learn.Together with our credentialed and dedicated staff, Fun Time offers academic content for all children ages 2 to 5 while recognizing the important role of play in learning.

Our mission

To provide safe, quality, affordable education and care for children and parents from low-income working families and to prepare the children for kindergarten, ready to read and ready to learn!

Helping our kids:

The 96 students enrolled at Fun Time come from low-income working families. Your donation helps to bridge the gap between the parent’s sliding-scale payment and the unfunded $8,200 cost this year of educating and caring for each student:

  • $100 provides materials for one classroom for one month
  • $250 provides 16 hours of tutoring to one child
  • $700 provides tuition assistance for one child for one month
  • $1400 provides tuition assistance for two children for one month
